K 2016 events and exhibits to highlight 3-D printing

Düsseldorf, Germany — K 2016 will include special events that will explore the possibilities and limits of additive manufacturing.

The touchpoint 3D fab+print summit will include in-depth presentations in two half-day conference, on Oct. 20 and Oct. 25 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Topics will include material and process developments, best practices, applications, market potential and costs.

That event is organized and managed by K 2016 show organizer Messe Düsseldorf in cooperation with KCI Publishing BV.

In addition, on Oct. 19, a short presentation titled “Additive Manufacturing for Individualizing Series Products” will be held in Hall 6 during the theme day focusing on Industry 4.0 within the special show “Plastics Shape the Future.”

Additive manufacturing also will be featured in the “Wolfgang’” FabBus, parked in front of Hall 3 during the show. As part of a European Union-funded project, the double-decker bus was converted into a mobile laboratory by GoetheLab of the Aachen University of Applied Sciences.

The FabBus' lower deck is designed as a showroom with exhibits and components manufactured using all the usual methods of additive manufacturing. The upper deck features eight workplaces with CAD computers and 3-D printers for visitors to design and print their own objects.

K 2016 will take place from Oct. 19-26 in Düsseldorf.
